 ParaSail   F.A.Q.'s   Specifications

Here are some answers to questions our customers frequently ask. If you have any questions that are not answered here on our site, or you need additional information, please feel free to contact us.

Q. What size boat do I need to pull a ParaSail?
A. Since all boats perform differently due to size, weight, horsepower, engine type, hull configuration, etc. there is no absolute size or horsepower requirement. Typically if a boat can pull up a heavy slalom skier and pull them at slalom speeds it has the acceleration and speed necessary to pull a ParaSail. As a ball park figure we usually suggest a 16' boat with 100 h.p.

Q. How fast do I need to pull a ParaSail?
A. Typical pulling speeds with an average size adult (125-175 lbs.) when the wind is calm is usually mid-teens to lower twenties. Heavier flyers require more speed while lighter flyers can be pulled slower. Another factor is the size of the canopy; smaller canopies must be pulled faster while a larger canopy requires less speed.

Q. Can I pull a ParaSail with my personal watercraft?
A. Many of the latest higher performance PWC's have plenty of power to pull a ParaSail. The one thing they lack is stability due to their light weight and short span. So while they will pull a ParaSail in a straight line in calm wind conditions, care must be exercised in turning or when it starts getting windy to avoid capsizing a PWC. Whether a person would be satisfied with the limitations of pulling a ParaSail with a PWC is a personal judgement.

Q. Can I take off from water?
A. No parasail is designed to take off from water. If you attempt to take off from water the back edge of the canopy will dig into the water and the ParaSail will come to an abrupt stop. This could damage the ParaSail or the flyer. Take offs for individuals should be from dry land. However you do have the option of landing in the water.

Q. Can I take off from my boat?
A. While there are some boats, particularly platform boats, that a ParaSail can take off from the answer is ?o' to most boats. There are two basic reasons. First most boats lack the room necessary to properly lay a ParaSail out for take off. Second the areodynamics of most boats will cause a ParaSail to be pulled down behind the boat and into the water during an attempted take off.

Q. Can I install a winch in my boat to pull my ParaSaildown for landing?
A. While it is possible to install a winch for ParaSail retrevial in virtually any boat most boats simply do not have the room to land a ParaSail. In addition the cost of winch installation is quite high and typically runs $2,000-$6,000 depending on the type of winch used. Most individuals simply take off from the beach and land in the water or back on the beach .

Q. What size ParaSail should I buy?
A. ParaSails come in three different canopy sizes; 24', 26' and 28'. At sea level the 24' model is designed for a flyer up to 225 lbs; the 26' model up to 275 lbs. and the 28' up to a maximum flyers weight of 325 pounds. There is minimum of 70 lbs for 24'; of 80 lbs. for the 26' and the 28' model has a minimum flyers weight of 90 lbs.

Q. Is flying a ParaSail difficult?
A. Actually for some people ParaSail can be easier to learn than water skiing or wake boarding. Simply follow the instructions in the Users/Owners manual that comes with each ParaSail and you'll soon be flying your ParaSail. As with most sports or activities the more your practice the better you'll become.

Q. Is flying a ParaSail dangerous?
A. In virtually any physical activity, as in parasailing, there is an element of risk involved. Injuries are usually caused by participant error or negligence, happenstance, or unsafe environmental conditions. To make a ParaSail as safe as possible it must be used according to the instructions in the Users/Owners manual along with mature adult common sense. However each participant must be aware that even by following all the instructions and being very careful the possibility of serious injury or even death remains and each participant must approach ParaSail with that awareness.

Q. Why should I buy a ParaSail instead of another?
A. While there are various makes and brands of parasails being sold throughout the world, none of them compares to a ParaSail in build quality, performance, durability , looks and price. Take a look around the rest of our site to see why ParaSails are simply THE BEST!
